چکیده

NOVEL HETEROGENOUS AND MAGNETICALY SEPARABLE CATALYSTS FOR SELECTIVE AND ENANTIOSELECTIVE ORGANIC TRANSFORMATIONS A brief description of the chapters in the thesis is outlined below: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 5 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Section B Section A THESIS CHAPTER-I, describes the various catalysts/process options available for an industrial chemist to effect different organic transformations. It includes a brief introduction of homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, asymmetric catalysis, nanomaterials and nanocatalysis. The need and development of cleaner and greener alternative technologies using truly heterogeneous catalytic systems in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals is described. CHAPTER-II, describes the design and development of nanocrystalline copper(II) oxide for the N-arylation of heterocycles with iodo-, bromo-, chloroand fluoroarenes to afford N-arylheterocycles with good yields under ligand free conditions (Scheme 1). The catalyst is recovered by simple centrifugation, and the efficiency of the catalyst remains almost unaltered even after several cycles. N,N-Dimethylbiguanide immobilized on mesoporous and magnetically separable silica: Highly selective and feasible organocatalyst for synthesis of β-nitroalcohols

An organosuperbase (N,N-dimethylbiguanide) immobilized on mesoporous and magnetically separable silica supports, was found for the first time, to act as a highly-stable, scalable and efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the Henry reaction under mild and neutral condition. Several factors such as catalyst amount, solvent and reaction time concerning the reactivity were also discussed. The proced...

Rational design of dynamic ammonium salt catalysts towards more flexible and selective function

This review focuses on the development of dynamic ammonium salt catalysis for selective organic transformations conducted in our laboratory since 2002. Several important concepts in designing of catalysts are described with some examples. In particular, the practical synthesis of chiral 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-disulfonic acid (BINSA) and its application in chiral ammonium salt catalysis for the en...

Enantioselective organocatalysis.

Enantioselective organocatalysis has emerged as a powerful synthetic paradigm that is complementary to metal-catalysed transformations and has accelerated the development of new methods to make diverse chiral molecules. The operational simplicity, ready availability of catalysts and low toxicity associated with organocatalysis makes it an attractive method to synthesise complex structures. Here...

Efficient and selective chemical transformations under flow conditions: The combination of supported catalysts and supercritical fluids

This paper reviews the current trends in the combined use of supported catalytic systems, either on solid supports or in liquid phases and supercritical fluids (scFs), to develop selective and enantioselective chemical transformations under continuous and semi-continuous flow conditions. The results presented have been selected to highlight how the combined use of those two elements can contrib...
